I am going to New York for five days for a little girls trip with my mom, mother-in-law, some aunts and my sister-in-law. We will be seeing three plays while we are there and are planning on eating at some yummy establishments, oh and of course shopping!!! I am really excited to get to go back since I had soo much fun last time I got to go. I have been trying to put together my wardrobe for the trip and so far it has been fairly successful and I think I have almost everything. It is soo much fun getting to plan for the trip and look at the places we want to see, eat at, do and all the fun there is to have!!! I will have loads of pictures to upload in a few weeks so look for that!!

Winter Sports

The past few winters I have been working on enjoying winter more by embracing the various winter activities that Utah provides. So one year I took ice skating for a class and learned to skate backwards, spin, jump, slide, do some lunges and stick my arms out all pretty. So now when I go ice skating I pull out some very mild tricks and am pretty happy with that level of ice skating mastery for now!! Then I figured I should pick back up snowboarding after my 5 year sabatical after I broke my tail bone. So the first few years I slowly went down the runs, staying on my heel edge (driving all other snowboarders and skiiers crazy with my terrible skills) trying to keep up with my friends. Some kind souls tried to teach me to get to my toe edge and to carve down the mountain but as soon as it got a little out of my comfort zone I was back to my horrible habits!!! Then we learned about Ladies Day at Sundance where all women 18 years and older have weekly ski or snowboard lessons for a month. Okay let's just say what an amazing idea!!! Last year was my first year and I was forced to start carving and stop sliding down the runs and to pick up my speed and even go over some jumps (really a rise in the snow). This year I signed up again and was again in a private lesson with a great instructor who constantly pushed me to be brave and get down the hill. So I can proudly say that I can go down pretty much any black diamond and keep up with a large part of the recreational snowboarders out there. Okay so you will NEVER see me in the Snowboard park or bombing down the hill or hiking up hills in the snow to get the best snow but that is fine with me!! Oh yeah and last year I thought I would give x-country skiing a go and I managed to break my tail bone on some icy run again down a hill. I thought that there were not hills in x-country skiing apparently I was wrong and I regretted it immensely!! Needless to say that is the last time I am doing that sport!!! Snowmobiling was another that was tried and I would have to say it was fun and enjoyable but not something I would love to do consistently!!

St. George RC Rock Crawling

We went to St. George the past weekend for Jesse's RC Rock Crawling competition. It was great weather and we were able to be outside for the whole day!! Our friends Dani and Collin came with us which was great because Jesse had someone to do the competition with and I did not have to focus my entire attention on the event. (Okay so that sounds bad but you can't pass judgment until you have experienced a RC Rock Crawling event all 12 hours of it yourself!!)

I also had a friend to hang out with and to go and get our nails all prettied up with!!

(We are Both Soo Happy!!!)

We stayed at my friends house that lives in St. George and had a great time!!! My friend Celina and I have a little tradition of making Stuffed French Toast together and we had come up with an idea on how to make the stuffed part better. It was to used a sandwich sealer to seal the two pieces together. Unfortunately, that did not work out as planned and created some ugly messy circles!! So the quest is still on to make the best and easiest and still be true Stuffed French Toast!! Sadly, we do not have any shots of the trial run but hopefully next time!!

The Holidays as a Pair

So this year was our first year where we had to share our time between both families. My idea was to start off with the rotating of holidays between each side. So we started with Thanksgiving at Jesse's parents house for a weekend filled with fun and more fun. As Christmas rolled around Jesse and I talked about how we would just be spending it with my family because my brother's family were coming out to visit for Christmas. Well as soon as my brother's family bailed all the plans to just hang out at my families went out the window (partly because my parents didn't care too much as long as we did christmas eve and we came over for part of Christmas day!!). So Christmas eve we went on a sleigh ride and dinner which was soo much fun but really cold!! Jesse even got to pull a suburban out of a snow drift on the way there so he was really happy!!! (That is his favorite thing to do and we are always pulling people out wherever we go in his truck!!)

Christmas Day was great, we spent the night over at Jesse's families and opened presents there. It is fun because everyone is still excited about opening presents so that made it more entertaining to watch everyone! Then we drove down to my parents and opened our presents and got ready to go snowboarding.

In my family, since everyone is grown and older we try to do fun activities the week of Christmas instead of doing lots of presents. So we did snowmobiling, ice skating, skiing and of course eating out. Ice skating this year ended ugly with my dad slipping and cutting the back of his head open but here are some happy pictures before the incident!!

Part of the Family

It was fun to have our first set of holidays together and be able to see how it would go and enjoy his side of the traditions and him to experience ours!
